Personally Owned Computers and Devices

March 30, 2020

College of Arts and Sciences, Information Technology Support (CASITS) configures, repairs, and supports College of Arts and Sciences-owned equipment and supports access to college-provided services on computers and devices that you may use at home or while traveling. For the exact units CASITS supports, please review our College IT Units webpage (College IT Units). CASITS is committed to making as many college-provided services as possible available to employees from any reasonable location.

CASITS cannot offer hardware support for personally owned computers or devices. CASITS cannot offer support for personally owned software. CASITS will support college-owned computers and devices and college-provided software and services. CASITS will not hold nor check-in personally owned computers or devices. If you have any questions about what may or may not be supported for a personally owned computer or device, please contact us (Request Support). For some examples of what we do support, please see below.

If you have a personally owned smart phone and are receiving a stipend from the university to help pay for it, we will provide advice in setting up the Outlook app (FSU's email app) or any other official university app related to your FSU account. We are not able to work on issues related to the phone itself or any other apps.

Examples of what CASITS does support:

  • Help with access to college resources from off-campus, including access to servers that require VPN (Cisco AnyConnect) connections.
  • Help with off-campus access to email using Office365, the College's webmail service (https://outlook.com/fsu.edu/).
  • Answer questions about software supported by CASITS. For more information about supported software, please visit our software page.
